Gentoo 2005.1 Installer
應該很多人都知道了

不過有人注意到第一行文字了嗎：
Welcome to The Gentoo Linux Installer. This is a TESTING release. If your system dies a horrible, horrible death, don't come crying to us (okay. you can cry to kileber).
工程師也滿搞笑的 :p

The installer will be the default in 2005.1 but of course you will still be able to install everything by hand. A modern distro simply needs to offer a graphical installer and this is a crucial step to ensure the survival of this great distro. We are confident this will increase our user base dramatically.
我想很多目前人都習慣了文字界面的裝法，而且 Gentoo 文件寫的相當清楚，其實安裝難度並不高。不過我對 Gentoo GUI 的推出還是給于高度的肯定，必竟目前 Gentoo 還是一個小眾的 distro (1)，如果 Gentoo Foundation 要繼續下去，它必需要有更多人們對它的接收度，其中降低安裝的難度是重要的第一步驟，才不會讓人覺的這是 1337 才會去用的 distro。一旦接收度提高才會有更多資金捐贈的機會。
而且 GUI 的 install 還是有好處，如果你現在叫我重新裝一遍，我還是得一邊看手冊，一邊看我自己的筆記才有可能裝的起來，叫我空手裝我也辦法。也且除非你有第二台電腦，你還得必需把手冊印出來 (除非你真的是 1337)。所以Gentoo 的安裝難度真的比起它的 distro 高出一些。所以 GUI installer 還是有優點的。
不過 2005.1 還是會有文字安裝的選擇的。 :)
(其實 Gentoo GUI installer 的實作早就出現過了，有一款 distro 叫 VidaLinux (Screenshot)，可以算是 Gentoo fork 的版本，不過 Vida 的人不願意和 Gentoo developers 合作，完全沒有回饋 Gentoo，是個在 Gentoo community 鄙視(3)的套件。)(4) (5)
